nomadic playlist: "towers" by bon iver

just a couple weeks ago i finished my most recent spread in the nomadic playlist, inspired by "towers" from bon iver's self-titled album with which i am gently obsessed. and here i am like a good little blogger, posting it now instead of, well, never.

we're trying to pick up the pace on this project to be faster than a really slow snail, so hopefully there'll be more frequent nomadic playlist posts in the future! one cool thing is that the sketchbook has truly been a nomad, traveling to several destinations on the east and west coasts! that is neat.

nomadic playlist: the new pornographers' sweet talk, sweet talk

okay, so i can explain.

i finally received the nomadic playlist after a very long hiatus sometime last fall, and it sort of sat on my desk, taunting me as i wrote lesson plans day in and day out all year, until finally, spring break and the imminent threat of holding onto it for almost as long as my partner in crime had held it previously guilted me into completing this spread and sending it back on it's merry way.

it's to accompany the song "sweet talk, sweet talk" from the new pornographers' most recent album together which is awesome and who i was able to see perform live shortly before making said spread (a possible source of inspiration, who's to say).

i know i last promised i would be prompt with the posting, but, well... i don't have anything to say for myself except I'M SORRY WON'T YOU FORGIVE ME? hopefully i'll be able to knock another spread out during these lazy summer months (ahem, hinthint) if it comes back my way more swiftly this time. and if THAT happens, i super-extra-pinky-promise to share the goods. for real.

remember this? the nomadic playlist? the book that travels and illustrates a track in an ongoing, collaborative mixtape with this guy? a long time ago, i did this spread and forgot to post it! i have been remiss! but here it is now... you forgive me, right?

it's illustrating  "transatlantique" by beirut, a sneaky but wonderful track off their elephant gun ep. i love beirut so very much.

when i get the book back and add the next song, i will be very prompt with the sharing, i swear.

i haven't abandoned you, internet!

hi, friends. i swear i haven't disappeared from the blogosphere, but some of my efforts have been redirected toward my other companion blog, "heart-sleeve teaching." i'm exploring the implications of visual/material/media/pop culture on art-making and education at large. so. if you miss me, i'm over there. so are some other cool things! so if you like pop culture, go take a look.

but! i'll be back here soon. i'm just getting things together and orderly for proper sharing. i ordered my postcards, and my thesis (round two!) show goes up in just a couple weeks! here is an actual illustration thing to leave you with, so that i'm not a total tease and/or jerkface:
